Ipsy Review: June 2017

Hey Y’all,

So, this is something new we were wanting to try!  We have both been getting the *very popular* beauty subscription service, Ipsy, for quite some time now.  It is pretty cool, for $10 a month you get 5 deluxe sample sized beauty products that can be anything from, makeup to skincare to haircare and more!  We have both enjoyed receiving this bag every month and wanted to share with y’all the products we’ve gotten in each bag and what we think about each one!  Be sure to let us know what you think! (or if you are also part of the Ipsy Squad, let us know what you’re loving out of your bag this month!)

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Game Changer: I was so excited when I found out I was getting a Trust Fund Beauty nail polish! I absolutely love TFB’s polishes and this color is perfect for summer! I have this nail polish on my toenails and I’ve gotten so many compliments! This was definitely a hit!

Luna Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Jace: This eyeshadow is a dusty rose color and I’m not the biggest fan of pink eyeshadows () but when I saw this I thought it would be the perfect blush shade! It has a matte finish which I love and it’s the perfect color to add to the cheeks to top of any makeup look!

Beauty For Real I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner in 24 Karat: I’m not very adventurous when it comes to eyeliner so using this was definitely out of my comfort zone but the color is stunning! And the formula is so creamy but doesn’t budge at all (which is a major plus in my opinion). I haven’t used it enough to decide whether the color works for me or not but the formula is bomb so I might be purchasing this in other colors!

NYX Professional Makeup Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in Cocoa Bean: I love this product as a lip color! I’m not sure how I feel about it as a cheek color but the formula is super creamy and moisturizing on the lips!

Chia 5-in-1 Defining Curl Cream by Trissola: I’m gonna be honest.. I am not a fan of using curl creams on my hair. I used to use them but now that I’ve discovered sea salt spray I just don’t find them appealing. I have read good reviews on this product but I personally haven’t tried it because I plan to give it to someone who will use it.

VASANTI COSMETICS Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – Exfoliating Cleanser:  I’m not the biggest on “skincare”. I never really have been. But as I get older, I am realizing more and more that this might be a bad thing! I know I need to get a set skincare routine down, and I truly think that Ipsy has partially been helping me with that. I get to try all these new skincare products without having to purchase full sizes of them, because let me tell you, the last thing I’m going to spend my money on at Ulta, without every having tried it, is skincare. With that being said, this was not my favorite. I knew that being an exfoliator, this was supposed to have a gritty texture to it, but once I put it on my face I instantly regretted it. It felt like I was rubbing very, VERY rough sandpaper on my face, and not in a good way. (You know, if there is a “good way” of running sand paper on your face?) I probably would not repurchase this.

NYX Professional Makeup Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in Cocoa Bean:  I really cannot decide if I love this or not. I honestly haven’t been able to use it enough to make up my mind. I love the color, just not sure if I am a fan of the consistency. I will say that I definitely was not a fan of it on my cheeks. The mousse-like consistency was not easy to work with and looked a little splotchy on the skin. But when I tried it on my lips I was very pleased with the color although it almost felt like it was sliding a little. I feel like I want to give this product a few more tries before I decide one way or another.

theBalm Cosmetics Balm Springs Blush:  I love the color of this blush! It is the perfect mauve/neutral color for an everyday look. The ONLY problem I had with this product is the same problem I have with almost every theBalm product I have received in my Ipsy bags and that is the size/packaging. I understand that these aren’t full size products and I am okay with that, but if this item is intended to be a blush, I feel like I should be able to AT LEAST get my blush brush into it. I mean, unless your blush brush is the size of a match stick you’re gonna be SOL. However, I do love the color of this so much that I am considering purchasing the full-sized version!

City Color Cosmetics Shimmer Shadow in Cheers to Life:  I was very impressed with both this size of this single shadow and the color payoff from it. City Color has always been a more “affordable” brand in my opinion so sometimes some of their products are not of the highest quality. But this shadow changed my opinion a little. It is super creamy and VERY pigmented, so I was super pleased with this product. By far my favorite product out of this month’s bag!

Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner:  So I must admit, I opened my bag and saw the gold cap on this liner and was instantly excited! (Mainly because I already own 500,000 black liquid liners thanks to Ipsy, so a different color would have been amazing) But then I opened the liner to swatch it and was quickly saddened by the fact that it was yet another black liquid liner. Despite this rollercoaster of emotions, I gave it a try, and was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly the felt tip applied! I have had troubles in the past with felt tip liners drying quickly so I did actually enjoy this one. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually end up reaching for this bad boy one day in the near future. (You know, when my other 2.2 million black liners dry up!)
