How to Style: Short Rainboots

Hey y’all!

As you probably already know, Hurricane Irma is currently threatening the East Coast pretty badly.  We are from South Carolina and our state has been in and out of the path of Irma all week.  Luckily, it looks like she is going to miss us, however the weather is still pretty bad (we say this as we watch the fence in Chelsea’s back yard sway heavily).  As thankful as we are that Irma won’t be directly hitting us, we have to remember that other’s were not as fortunate.  We hope everyone who has been affected by not only Irma, but Harvey as well, is safe with their families and know that y’all will be in our thoughts and prayers.

With all of this rain heading our way we are breaking out our rain gear while still trying to stay fashionable (as always).  One thing for us that is always difficult during rainy days is shoe choice.  You obviously have to be super careful not to wear a nice pair of leather shoes during the rain.  That’s clearly the best way to ruin your favorite pair of shoes (speaking form experience).  Your next option would be wearing a pair of rain boots, which is probably your best bet, but not always the most fashionable, unless of course, you invest in a pair of Hunter rain boots (which is never a bad idea).

With ankle booties currently topping the charts of everyone’s “favorite boot style” lists, we’re shocked that it took this long for everyone to come out with ankle rain boots.  Seriously though, how perfect are they?  So easy to dress up or dress down!  We first fell in love with Jeffrey Campbell’s version of these rain boots because like we said in Friday’s post, Jeffrey Campbell is a genius when it comes to shoes.  Then other brands started coming out with their versions like Sam Edelman and Hunter.  We had both been thinking long and hard about purchasing a pair of these cute ankle rain boots over the past few months but we were having a hard time deciding which ones were worth the investment.  That was until we were cruising down the aisles of Target (as usual) and happened to come across their dupe of these booties.  Usually we are all for investing in better or more high end brands if it means better quality and longer lasting products, however Target’s version is just as perfect as all of the higher end brands.  Therefore we knew these rain boots would be coming home with not one, but both of us.  If you’re looking for a cute pair of rain boots this fall, look no further!

  1. I see they only have full sizes. As a 9.5 wearer, do you folks recommend going up a size or down? Did you also buy inserts for your booties? I often find rainboots lacking and have to walk a ton in NYC. Love the looks!

    1. I would probably recommend going up a half size to a ten. I believe they fit pretty true to size however I like wearing a thicker sock with them so I think going up a half size wouldn’t do any harm! I didn’t personally buy inserts but I definitely think it would help if you’re walking long distances in them. This might also help if you do go up a size in them!
